Why is my laptop plugged in and not charging?

Laptop batteries typically last about four hours on a single charge. But after a while, the arrival time may start to decrease. There are a few simple solutions you can do if your laptop battery not charging.

Other than an old battery, there may be other reasons why your laptop battery not charging.

• The laptop battery not charging due to faults in the charging cable.
• Your charging port is covered with dirt or dust, which prevents it from connecting properly.
• The charging cable may be loose or disconnected.
• Your charging cable could have a weak connection because it wasn't made by your laptop's manufacturer.
• The laptop is overheating or overworked

Even modern laptops can sometimes overheat. But this often happens on older laptops with aging batteries and poor cooling systems.

Steps to repair a laptop battery not charging

Test the wall outlet and make sure it's working. If not, try plugging your laptop into a different one.

Turn off the laptop for about thirty minutes. Then connect the charging cable to the laptop and see if it charges. This can also help your device cool down if it's overheating.

Check the charging ports on your laptop to see if there is any dust or dirt. Clean with a slightly damp cotton swab or compressed air, Allow the port to dry completely before re-inserting the cable.

Look at your cables and make sure they are plugged in correctly. Avoid using unofficial charging cables.

If you can remove your laptop battery, remove it. Reassemble it again. Now try to turn on the laptop, if it does not start, remove the battery again, hold the power button for 10 seconds and drain the remaining charge from your laptop.  Then insert the battery into the computer and connect the charger to the laptop. See if the battery charges. If charged, the problem is solved.

If your charging ports are loose or damaged, do not attempt to repair them yourself. Get the services of an experienced technician for such repairs.

Reinstall Microsoft ACPI-compliant control method Battery

It can be done this way.

On your keyboard, press the Windows logo key and R at the same time to open the Run dialog box. Type devmgmt.msc and press Enter to open Device Manager.

Double-click Batteries, Right-click Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery, and select Uninstall device. Click Uninstall to uninstall it.

Shut down your laptop and disconnect the laptop charger.

Remove your laptop battery, press and hold the power button for 30 seconds, and then release the power button.

Put your battery back in and plug your laptop charger into your laptop.

Power on your laptop. When you sign in to your Windows system, Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery would be reinstalled automatically. 

If not, follow the steps below to reinstall it.

i.        On your keyboard, press the Windows logo key and R at the same time to open the Run dialog box. Type devmgmt.msc and press Enter to open Device Manager.

ii.       Select Batteries. Click Action and select Scan for hardware changes. Wait several seconds and Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery will be reinstalled on your laptop.

If the problem persists, you can try updating the driver for 

your battery management device.

Update the driver for your battery management

This problem can also be caused by a missing or outdated 

driver for your battery management device. Try updating 

the driver for your battery management device to resolve 

this issue.

and install the latest version of the driver for the battery 

management device.
